European Journal of Medical Research | Case reports

As a result of the significant disruption that is being caused by the COVID pandemic we are very aware that many researchers will have difficulty in meeting the timelines associated with our peer review process during normal times.

Please do let us know if you need additional time. Our systems will continue to remind you of the original timelines but we intend to be highly flexible at this time. In the era of evidence-based practice, we need practice-based evidence. The basis of this evidence is the detailed information from the case reports of individual people which informs both our clinical research and our daily clinical care.

Each case report published in this journal adds valuable new information to our medical knowledge. Consent for publication is a mandatory journal requirement for all case reports.

Written informed consent for publication must be obtained from the patient or their parent or legal guardian in the case of children under 18, or from the next of kin if the patient has died. For more information, please see our editorial policies.

Dermatologic toxicity is a very common immune-related adverse event irAE for patients with melanoma who are receiving immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy. In this case report, Li and colleagues present the case of a year-old Caucasian man with dermatological toxicity due to an irAE with concurrent pityriasis versicolor. The steroid treatment for irAE was likely exacerbating the underlying fungal infection, and the fungal infection was in term mimicking the symptoms of irAE.

It is vital to look beyond the irAE when managing dermatitis in patients receiving ICI therapy. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2-induced acute aortic occlusion Artem Minalyan et al.
